Week 9 – Weight Loss Doesn’t Have to be Hard

By now, hopefully you will have seen that losing weight doesn’t have to be that hard! Control of hunger and cravings is the key!

Biological hunger is about survival and is driven by genetics.  We are all born with a certain capacity to store weight (Remember: the ability to store fat = fuel for times of famine = survival!  Our bodies really are trying to do us a favour!)  Some people store weight really well (this predisposition leads to obesity) whilst others are energy wasters (the naturally lean).  The good news is, you can control biological hunger through  ketosis, which is natures own appetite suppressant, or weight loss medications.   Hopefully you’ve the chance to discuss both of these strategies with your Alevia doctor.

The other aspect of eating is reward or non hungry eating. This eating is not driven by biology but is more about feeling good.  And by this stage in the program you may have also noticed some non hungry eating creeping in to your day.  There may be some habits, social situations or even people that could be making it hard to lose weight.

Time to reflect again …

How well controlled are my hunger and cravings now?

How is the quality of my nutrition now?

What strategies do I have for managing non  hungry eating?

There are some strategies that you can use to overcome both hunger and cravings – feel free to check them out in the App – Dealing with Hunger and Cravings or chat to your Alevia doctor for more suggestions on managing both hungry and non hungry eating.
