New Patient Queries
- How much does the program cost?
You can view our current fees here. We keep pricing clear and upfront.
- How much weight will I lose?
Everyone’s journey is different. We look at barriers you’ve faced in the past, and deep dive into things like causes of weight gain such as genetics, hormone imbalances, eating patterns, level of activity etc. Together, we set realistic goals and create an individualised plan to meet your specific needs. We’ll review progress regularly, and adjust your plan as your needs change.
- I don’t want weight-loss surgery - can you still help?
Yes. Whilst surgery can be a very effective tool for weight management, we start with non-surgical, evidence-informed approach, and review options such as weight loss medications and the most effective diet and exercise strategies. We are focused on long-term weight management. If surgery is being considered, we can coordinate pre- and post-operative care with your treating team.
- How is the Alevia program different?
Alevia is a safe and non judgemental space to access medical weight management service. Our doctors are compassionate and will discuss all of the treatment options available to you. You’ll receive one on one care from our team of doctors, dietitians, exercise physiologists and mental health clinicians. No gimmicks, just a structured plan built around your lifestyle and health needs. Find out more.
- Which doctor should I choose?
Meet our doctors and learn about their approach in our short introduction videos.
- I have a busy lifestyle - can I still do the program?
Definitely. We focus on practical, time-smart strategies and offer Telehealth where clinically appropriate.
- What if I already see a PT or go to the gym - do I still need an exercise physiologist?
It’s optional. An exercise physiologist can assess your capacity and, if suitable, design a safe, targeted plan that works with what you’re already doing.
- What is your doctor availability like?
We offer weekday, evening and weekend appointments to fit in with your needs. Check current availability here.
- I’ve battled my weight for years - how will this be different?
We address biological, psychological and social drivers of weight, then tailor care to you. We understand that the body can adapt to weight loss with hormonal changes that make losing weight hard. We want you to know that it is not your fault! Our team of medical doctors and allied health clinicians focus on the science of body-weight regulation, including how appetite and energy balance adapt during weight change. While we can’t guarantee results, we do offer individualised, dedicated care, structured support and regular review to keep you moving forward.
- How often will I see my doctor?
Visit frequency is individualised. We’ll agree on a review schedule that fits your goals and clinical needs.
- How do I get my Medicare rebate?
Once your consultation is paid, we submit your claim and the rebate is generally returned to the bank account you’ve nominated with Medicare within 1–2 days.
- I have special dietary requirements - can I still do your program?
Yes. Our dietitians can tailor nutrition support for allergies, food intolerances and preferences (for example, coeliac disease, lactose or fructose intolerance, vegetarian or vegan eating).
- I have complex medical conditions - can I still do your program?
Often yes. We’ll assess your health, medicines and precautions, and coordinate care with your GP/specialist where needed.
- I have injuries and find it hard to exercise. Can I still lose weight?
We’ll focus on nutrition first and suggest movement options that suit your capacity and safety. When ready, our exercise physiologists can put together a program that takes into account any injuries or barriers to exercise.
- I’ve had weight-loss surgery but regained some weight - can you help?
We provide assessments for weight regain, appetite changes and nutritional status, and can work with your surgeon/GP as appropriate.
Appointment Queries
- How can I book an appointment?
Book online via our website or contact our reception team - whichever you prefer.
- What if I can’t get in to see my usual doctor?
We’ll offer the next suitable appointment or arrange a review with another Alevia doctor who can access your shared clinical notes. You can also join our waitlist for earlier openings.
- How do I contact my doctor between appointments?
Please make an appointment with your Alevia doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Alternatively, you can contact re*******@********om.au if you are unsure. We’ll respond as soon as we can. For urgent issues, see your local GP or dial 000 in an emergency.

If a prescription is clinically appropriate, your doctor may issue it electronically. We’ve created a simple guide to help you use e-scripts here.
- Can I claim private health insurance for appointments?
Programs funded by Medicare (ie. GP appointments) generally aren’t eligible for private health rebates. However, allied health appointments certainly may be. Please check directly with your insurer.
- How do I pay for my appointment?
We securely store your payment details to streamline billing after your consultation and submit any Medicare claim for you. If a payment fails, we’ll contact you to sort it out.
- Do I have to give my card details every time?
If you consent, we can securely store your details to save time at future bookings. Or you can enter them for each visit - it’s all in your control.
- How can I change or cancel my appointment? Is there a cancellation fee?
Call us as early as possible so we can offer your time to someone on our waitlist. Late cancellations or missed appointments may incur a fee.
- How do Telehealth Medicare claims work?
Eligibility depends on having had a face-to-face visit with us in the last 12 months. If eligible, we’ll lodge your claim after payment; Medicare typically returns the rebate within 1–2 days.
