Heather Mikronis

An Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with degrees in Psychology, Counselling, and Social Work, and have extensive experience supporting individuals facing challenges that impact their mental health and quality of life.

In recent years, I’ve developed a strong interest in Eating Disorders and feel privileged to support individuals at Alevia as they navigate the complex journey toward recovery.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which empowers people to understand and shift unhelpful thought patterns that influence behaviour and emotion. I’ve undertaken additional training in CBT-E (Enhanced CBT), an evidence-based approach specifically tailored for eating disorders.

My professional development includes:

• Foundations of Eating Disorders
• Management of Eating Disorders in the Community
• CBT for Eating Disorders (Inside Out Institute)
• Ongoing training in Eating Disorder Essentials (Australian Centre for Eating Disorders), with a strong focus on CBT-E.
