Healing Through Creativity: Individual Art Therapy Sessions Now Available at Alevia

When we talk about weight management at Alevia, we’re talking about more than the number on the scale. For many people, emotional wellbeing, self-perception and the way we relate to our bodies can be part of the broader health journey. That’s why Alevia takes a whole-person approach to care.

We’re pleased to share that individual online Art Therapy sessions are now available to Alevia patients, provided by art therapist Zeva Mirankar.

A New Chapter for Alevia’s Wellbeing Support

Many of you will remember our Reclaiming Self Art Therapy Group Program. As that program concludes, we’re pleased to offer a new option: individual 1:1 Art Therapy sessions, delivered online via Zoom.

Whether you participated in the group program or are exploring Art Therapy for the first time, these sessions offer a private, supported space to reflect, create and explore your wellbeing in a way that feels personal to you.

What Is Art Therapy — And Do I Need to Be “Arty”?

The short answer: absolutely not.

Art Therapy is not about artistic talent or producing something beautiful. It is a therapeutic approach that uses creative expression — such as drawing, painting, collage or mark-making — alongside conversation and reflection.

The art materials become a tool for exploration, not performance. For some people, creative expression can offer another way to notice, process or communicate thoughts and feelings that may be difficult to put into words.

Individual experiences vary, and Art Therapy may not be suitable for everyone. Zeva can discuss the approach with you before booking so you can decide whether it feels like the right fit.

Art Therapy as Part of Whole-Person Wellbeing Support

At Alevia, we understand that weight management can involve physical, emotional, social and behavioural factors.

Art Therapy may provide a reflective space to explore themes such as:

    • Stress and emotional overwhelm
    • Body image and self-perception
    • Self-compassion and self-awareness
    • Life transitions and identity
    • Personal values, goals and motivation
    • Patterns, feelings or experiences that may be difficult to express in words

Art Therapy is offered as a wellbeing support option and does not replace medical, psychological or emergency mental health care. If you are experiencing significant distress or mental health concerns, please seek advice from your GP, psychologist or treating health professional.
