This Month’s Must-Watch: Your October Members Webinars

October Must-Watch: Member Webinars on Weight-Loss Plateaus

You’ve been doing the work. Showing up to appointments, making thoughtful choices, moving more. Then one morning the scale stops moving, and it stays that way for weeks.

If that sounds familiar, you’re far from alone. A weight-loss plateau is one of the most common, and most frustrating, parts of any weight management journey. It is also one of the most misunderstood. That’s why this October, both of our member webinars focus on plateaus: what’s really happening in your body, and what you can do about it.

A plateau is not a failure

Let’s be clear from the start: a plateau does not mean you’ve done something wrong, and it doesn’t mean your treatment has stopped working. It’s a normal biological response, and it’s something our team sees and supports people through every day.

When you lose weight, your body adapts. A smaller body needs less energy, so your daily energy requirements fall. Hormones that regulate hunger and fullness also shift, which can make appetite louder than it was at the start. Add in everyday factors such as sleep, stress, fluid shifts and changes in routine, and the scale can stall even when you’re doing everything right.

It’s also worth remembering that the scale only tells part of the story. Changes in body composition, fitness, energy, sleep, blood results and how your clothes fit are all meaningful markers of progress. A stalled number doesn’t always mean stalled health.

Webinar 1: Breaking Through a Weight-Loss Plateau

With Olga Wheeler, Alevia Health Coach Wednesday 14 October 2026, 7:30PM (AEDT)

Olga works alongside our members every week, helping turn medical plans into habits that fit real lives. In this session she’ll focus on the practical side of plateaus: what you can adjust, what to keep doing, and how to stay motivated when progress feels slow.

Olga will cover:

  • How to tell the difference between a true plateau and normal day-to-day fluctuation

  • Small, sustainable changes to routine, movement and daily activity that can restart momentum

  • Spotting the quiet habit shifts that creep in over time

  • Mindset tools to stay consistent without slipping into all-or-nothing thinking

  • Why self-compassion is a strategy, not an indulgence

Webinar 2: Why the Scale Won’t Budge – Understanding Weight-Loss Plateaus

With Sarah Morgan, Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) Date to be confirmed – watch your inbox

Where Olga’s session focuses on action, Sarah’s explains the science. As an Accredited Practising Dietitian, Sarah will unpack what’s happening physiologically when weight loss slows, and how nutrition can support you through it.

Sarah will cover:

  • How metabolism and appetite hormones adapt as you lose weight

  • Why fluid, glycogen and hormonal cycles can mask fat loss on the scale

  • The role of protein and muscle in protecting your metabolism, particularly if you’re taking weight-loss medication

  • Reassessing your nutrition needs as your body changes

  • Measures of progress that matter more than the number on the scale

We’ll share the date and registration details as soon as they’re confirmed.

Getting the most from both sessions

Together, these webinars give you the full picture: Sarah explains why plateaus happen, and Olga shows you how to move through them. To get the most out of them:

  • Come with your questions. Both sessions include time for live Q&A.

  • Bring your data. A few weeks of your weight trend, food notes or activity logs can help you apply what you learn.

  • Take it back to your team. Discuss any insights at your next GP, dietitian or health coach appointment so we can tailor your plan together.

  • Can’t make it live? Recordings will be available to members after each session.

You don’t have to push through alone

Weight management is a long-term process, not a straight line. Plateaus are part of the journey for almost everyone, and working through them with a team that understands the medicine, the nutrition and the mindset makes all the difference.

At Alevia, our GPs, dietitians, exercise physiologists, psychologists and health coaches work together to help you find what works for your body. Progress over perfection, always.

Save the date for 14 October, and keep an eye out for Sarah’s session details. We look forward to seeing you there.

Why We Do This

Our members webinars exist because we believe education and connection are just as much a part of your treatment as any prescription or care plan.

How to Join

Zoom links for each session are sent directly to members on the Monday of the relevant week — so keep an eye on your inbox. If you’re a member and haven’t received your details closer to the date, reach out to our team and we’ll sort you out.
